Yuuki (ユウキ, Yuuki^?) is the protagonist of the Digimon Liberator web novel.

Description

Yuuki is a university freshman. She is very curious; and has a love of dance, video games, anime, and manga. She is able to have full hearted conversations with anyone, though struggles to sense other people's thoughts and sucks at reading the room. After meeting Impmon, she made it her goal to become friends with all Digimon.^[1] Because Yuuki is unfazed by Impmon's twisted personality, it is the only human it has opened its heart to and will only show its secret honest side to her.^[4]

Fiction

Yuuki was one of the few players who took part in the year long beta test of Digimon Liberator. During the beta, she came across Impmon — with the Digimon becoming her partner.^[1]

Following the launch of the game, Yuuki became part of the De-bug team for Digimon Liberator, helping to deal with any internal issues that arise within the game.

Due to the large number of NPCs going rogue, the team were dispatched to hunt them down. They are also tasked with hunting down wild Digimon and turning them into cards, as the wild Digimon feature wasn't yet supposed to have gone live and was causing the game issues.

During her time as part of the de-bug team, Yuuki become close friends with fellow member Winr.

Yuuki finds a rogue NPC in the Ruby Mountain, with the NPC using a deck focusing on EX7-046: Metallicdramon and EX7-014: Volcanicdramon. Despite her best efforts, she loses to the NPC. Yuuki apologizes to Impmon for having caused them to lose. It reminds her that their Novel Emblem is still an unstable untested version with no guarantee their data would survive losing to NPCs — and that they may have gotten lucky in that they were still alive. Impmon tells her that if she wants its forgiveness she should come up with a plan to defeat the duo in a rematch, though she states she has no plan and that they should come up with one together, with Impmon deciding not forgive her. As they bicker, Yuuki pulls out her D-STORAGE, intending to recall Impmon and go home as she was worn out from the arguing, but stops when she notices her gained new items. Since they had lost to the NPC, she was confused as to why she had new items and opens her inventory to see had obtained a new ability item for her Tamer card. She wonders whether she should accept it, though quickly decides to do so and upon gaining a new ability asks Impmon about it and Beelzemon's types — confirming with it that Impmon is the Evil type and Beelzemon is the Demon Lord type. This confuses Impmon, feeling it to be a pointless question, though learns why when it sees her new ability is support for Dark Dragon and Demon Dragon Type Digimon. A new notification appears, informing the duo they had received new cards, this confuses them even further. As they look through the cards, Yuuki happily declares they would use these new cards to defeat the NPC. DEBUG.1-1 Yuuki Having learned from her prior defeat to the NPC, Yuuki is able to win by using its own tactics against it to endure its attacks instead of fighting it head on.

Now back at the base of Ruby Mountain, Yuuki hugs an annoyed Impmon in happiness over their win. After the celebration ends, Impmon brings up the fact that them gaining new cards and Tamer abilities was suspicious with Yuuki saying they can ask Altea about it. She leaves the base, dragging Impmon with her, and forces Impmon to walk around Ruby Mountain with her. DEBUG.1-2 HEAVY METAL PLAY

Shortly afterwards, the duo become so over-excited at having defeated a rogue NPC they challenge the main scenario and drag Winr alongside with them. Despite the new deck, she is defeated easily by the NPC and its deck focused around EX7-047: Tlalocmon. She lost so fast, Winr couldn't even analyse the NPC's deck. DEBUG.2-1 Winr

One day, Ryutaro Williams, Yuuki, and Winr, under the orders of Altea, were given a mission to deal with some cheaters — taking the place of the GMs as they were too busy to deal with it themselves. The cheaters would hack the tournament winners, preventing them from logging out or even communicating with other players, and would agree to restore their accounts in exchange for their tournament prizes. They would then sell the prizes to make large amounts of money. The group of 30 hackers had affected so many tournaments, the fear of being hacked had caused entry numbers to drop drastically. Learning this information riled up the Digimon, and their discussions bring to light that there isn't even evidence of the hacking as it left no trace and in addition to that — the higher ups have no clue how they even managed to do it in the first place, as other cheating attempts would be stopped buy the game itself due to the hackers modifying their systems. Though the task seems impossible, Ryutaro reveals he has a plan and brings up how the winner of the previous weeks tournament had fallen victim to this scam. He goes through what the hackers do again, then says he had actually agreed with the hackers to buy said stolen prize and had a meeting with them at Lapis Marine to get the stolen item.

They send out Winr to make first contact with Winr's plan being to lower their guards as he was a kid instead of the giant Ryutaro. Espimon had sent a message via Tyrannomon with it telling them not to allow the hackers to run towards Lapis Stadium Tower as the debugging team were testing a player who had taken out an NPC there to see if he was a good fit as a new member of the team. Winr sends a message to Ryutaro just as he was about to check the map for escape routes with it saying that more than 10 hackers had shown up and he was scared they were going to take advantage of him since a kid would be unable to stop them. This angers Ryutaro, since he had allowed Winr to go alone, and he leaves alongside Tyrannomon to try and save his young friend from harm. He gets there in time, with Yuuki also having joined in the rescue attempt. The three of them were now surrounded by the large number of hackers. The hackers were aware of the fact they were dubuggers undercover, and weren't intimidated by their jobs as they just considered them the same as regular players. They laugh at the fact there's no evidence, with Winr telling them that this is still an official trade and if they went against their word and didn't give them the stolen item they could report them and get them banned. Dokuson Aruba, leader of the hackers, points out they had yet to receive the payment and that they have the blackmail of the fact that debuggers were pretending to be regular players. Ryutaro then proceeds to challenge Aruba to a duel. DEBUG.3-1 Ryutaro Aruba agrees, and states they'll stop their scams if Ryutaro is able to win. Meanwhile if he wins, he will post online about how the group had been going undercover as regular players with the shame supposedly being enough that it'd cause them to never be able to play again. Though at first worried that Aruba would lose, his minions quickly change to mocking the debuggers confident that their leader would never lose. Aruba gives Ryutaro the chance to back out, but Ryutaro refuses and accepts the duel request.

Ryutaro wins the duel, and informs the hackers that they're going to freeze their accounts as punishment and that the various members would either receive warnings or tournament bans. The debugging team arrest all the hackers, though Ryutaro gives Aruba his spare account telling him to play the game using it as he wants a rematch. He leaves on Tyrannomon, and takes the dinosaur to coast to swim. Before they can swim though, Winr contacts him and tells him the group had been summoned by the GMs as they were unhappy with how they had dealt with the investigation. DEBUG.3-2 WE CAN BE HEROES

After Suzune completes her mission to capture Bulucomon, she talks Yuuki in the Garden. Suzune asks if Cool Boy was around so that she could report to a GM, with Yuuki pointing to him at the other side of the room as he's mid conversation with Unchained. Yuuki asks if she should get Cool Boy for her, though Suzune decides against it as they were clearly too busy. She tells Yuuki to tell no one about what she just told her with Yuuki agreeing and then leaving to go to class. DEBUG.4-2 GODDESS FROM THE ICE AGE

Yuuki attends the debug team meeting that had been set up to induct Shoto Kazama and Arisa Kinosaki as the newest members of the debug team. SELECT FEW (Part 1)

Yuuki and Impmon see a wild Wormmon (and didn't know what species it was) whilst in the Obsidian Desert, and leave to tell the others. This causes a widespread search of the Desert with multiple debug team members sent out to find it. Yuuki goes with Winr, who, after lots of searching, are unable to find it. Yuuki yells at Winr at how she wasn't lying, with Winr telling her to keep it down since he had already suffered enough through having to travel through the Desert. She says Impmon saw it too, who backs up her claim and adds that it looked like a caterpillar. Winr asks FunBeemon's opinion, who says it may have been a DoKunemon, Wormmon, or even a new Digimon entirely. It points out that it had asked its Royal Base hive members to search around the desert beforehand, and that none of them had seen the green Digimon in question — though offers out the theory that it may have possessed an NPC or object since being spotted. Winr doubts this though, figuring that a random wild Digimon would have no where to hide, since so many debug team members were out looking for Maquinamon and that some had even captured some in the Desert and had made sure to check every single NPC and object in the area. He brings this up to Yuuki, who's protests go in vein. Winr asks why Yuuki is pushing so much about this supposed sighting, with her just saying "because". As he thinks over it, he realizes that she cares about all Digimon and how distraught she probably is about the fact that a wild Digimon could be suffering and then die as wild Digimon are unable to survive long inside LACUNA and so apologizes. As their partners try to cheer them up, Ryutaro and Tyrannomon show up. Ryutaro praises the duo for their work, whilst Tyrannomon jumps into the nearby water to cool down. They are quickly followed by Suzune and Frigimon, who had been working with Ryutaro and Tyrannomon.

Stopping for a break and a chat, Suzune says that she and Ryutaro hadn't found the Digimon either — though had seen some of the other debug members were duelling against a trio of NPCs and so something must've been going on in the desert. Not wanting to doubt Yuuki and Impmon, Suzune says that with no one having been able to find the wild Digimon — it must've already died. Yuuki becomes visibly sad, though quickly puts on a fake smile to try and hide the pain. With the mission "complete", Ryutaro, Suzune, Winr, and their partners leave. Within seconds of Impmon approaching Yuuki, a crying Yuuki apologizes to her partner. It insults her over her feelings, and tells her that it would be impossible for her to become friends with all Digimon if she were to continue to be such a mope. It tells her that just because no one had found it yet doesn't mean it isn't still alive and that if they found it, would it want to befriend a cry baby? shocked at its words, she stops crying and hugs it — thanking it for helping to cheer her up. Now ready to return to the base, she begins to walk back and holds out hope she would get to see the caterpillar Digimon again one day. DEBUG.6-1 OASIS

Some time after, Yuuki celebrates winning a duel against an NPC in the Emerald Coast. HeavyMetaldramon, though, scolds her as she nearly lost on multiple occasions and that she should be beating mid-tier NPCs easier than she is — Yuuki even admitting to herself that any human player would've beaten her easily. She tells Impmon to stop taking everything so seriously and that she's just playing the story to have fun. With neither of them listening to the NPC giving them the storyline information after beating it since they were busy quarrelling, they realize the quest is over when they get the "STORY CLEAR" notification. They look at the quest rewards, then set off go to clear another story mission.

Whilst wandering around, Yuuki realizes she has no idea where they are and yells out about how she's lost. She looks at her D-STORAGE, confused as she found it weird she got lost despite following the arrow. They check the map and see the map does indeed have a tracker sending them to an NPC, but that the map looks nothing like their current location. Despite this, they were supposedly near where the NPC was. Figuring this was a bug, Impmon points out it's their job to deal with it as debuggers and though Impmon suggests logging out and telling the GMs about it — Yuuki instead decides she wants to actually continue playing the quest. A worried Impmon rejects her idea, though changes its mind after she calls it a wimp — successfully tricking her partner into going along with her wishes.

They wander around some more, eventually finding a circular clearing. Yuuki, finding it pretty, runs to it — but is attacked by Huckmon, who's attack narrowly misses her. It tells her not to get any closer, and that if she does — it will have to deal with her. They see Huckmon was protecting a group of Rookie and In-Training Digimon, and as members of the debug team, they had a duty to capture them and put them in cards so that they could survive. Huckmon tells them that this was a Sanctuary, with the Digimon living there able to live without human intervention. Not wanting any humans to know about the location, it prepares to attack Yuuki — saying it knows she works for the debug team and so has to kill her as she works for Cool Boy — who apparently abandoned Huckmon and the others. It summons an NPC, and despite Yuuki saying she has no clue about this betrayal — it says it will never forgive humans and wants to kill them all. It tries to convince Impmon to join its side, figuring it was being tricked by Yuuki, but an angry Impmon stands by its partners side. Yuuki tries to calm them both down, but Huckmon refuses to listen and says the only way it will do so if she proves herself in battle. To their surprise, Huckmon gives Yuuki a new card and tells her that if she is able to use that card successfully — it will consider her to have proven her strength and will listen to her. They then agree to the duel. DEBUG.8-1 COOL WHITE SAVIOR

As she duels, she says how she wants to become friends with it and the Digimon it was protecting, with Huckmon admiring her warrior attitude.

As it looks like Yuuki was going to lose, Jesmon GX tells them to surrender and if they do it may consider sparing their lives. It continues to say that humans aren't needed, its insults angering HeavyMetaldramon even further. It brings up that despite humans being from a different World to the Digimon, alongside the fact they can log out whenever they want, they had no reason to help the Digimon — yet they do. It says that though it may be arrogant for humans to want to be friends with Digimon, that's fine, they have managed to build a bond together, and Yuuki can prove to Huckmon that human and Digimon bonds are real. This speech spurs Yuuki back into the duel, which she eventually wins thanks to the very card Huckmon gave her.

Having proven herself, she and Huckmon talk. She learns that Huckmon actually came a different world entirely, not LACUNA, and that Cool Boy had created that world. Cool Boy had told it that it had created it, as it was able to save the lives of the Digimon who would stray from the Digital World. As they spent time together, Huckmon and the others grew to trust Cool Boy — though he began visiting their World less and less. In that world, there was an unknown beast Digimon that everyone grew to love. The beast Digimon was attacked by an unknown mechanical Digimon, and though Jesmon was able to defeat it and protect its friend — its usage of Aus Generics caused it to end up in this world. As it travelled LACUNA, it learned Cool Boy had been creating this even bigger game World for the same purpose. It wonders if Cool Boy intended to move the ones in Huckmon's world to this one some day, or if he had been creating it so that the Digimon within this one would attack and destroy the previous world as it was no longer needed — which is why it was hiding its friends inside the glitched map. It asks Yuuki if Cool Boy would do something like that, with Yuuki insisting that he would never do such a thing. This pleases Huckmon, who apologizes for what it had done. It says they can do whatever they want to it for having attacked them, but asks them to leave its friends out of it as it does not want them to come to harm. Yuuki though, says she will not report what had happened to anyone, and that she just wants it to come visit her and Cool Boy when it feels like it's able to trust humans. Huckmon is surprised to be let off the hook, and agrees to Yuuki's request for her to come visit it from time to time. Amazed at what Yuuki had managed to achieve, Impmon says she really may be able to become friends with every single Digimon. DEBUG.8-2 THROUGH THE FIRE AND METAL

At the same time, a large amount of black holes open up in Jewel. Unchained tells Cool Boy that they predicted said issue could cause LACUNA to be destroyed. The admins log out all regular players — though allow staff and debug team members to remain logged in. The admins sending a notification for logged in debug members to go to the Garden. RAID ON THE WORLD (Part 2) Huckmon assures Yuuki and Impmon it can protect its friends from harm, and so Yuuki and Impmon leave to go to the Garden. DEBUG.8-2 THROUGH THE FIRE AND METAL Once there, they were all told to go look for NPC Sam the Clown as it was controlling the Imperialdramon inside the black holes. Unable to find him, an annoyed Yuuki screams loudly about show she cannot find him, and how he usually is very easy to find. Impmon tells her to shut up, saying that Sam wont show up just because she's yelling. With no one able to find him despite searching the entire City, Arisa Kinosaki eventually figures that they couldn't find the NPC as the wild Digimon possessing him must've digivolved to Imperialdramon and as such was no longer an NPC. Arisa texts everyone her theory, with this putting a stop to the search, the entire group now focused on taking down the fifty Imperialdramon. RAID ON THE WORLD (Part 2) Yuuki defeats at least one of them. OVERWRITE BLACK (Part 1)

On Valentines Day, Yuuki gives chocolate to her friends. One of them was Shoto.^[5]

A few weeks after the BlackImperialdramon rampage is dealt with, Yao Qinglan requests Suzune, Ryutaro, Winr, Yuuki, and Altea meet her in Avalon. Yuuki complains at it being hot, though Winr points out that wasn't the case as they were inside LACUNA and as such it wasn't hot. Yuuki says that ever since they got the T.A.L.E home dev kits that allow them to change their clothes to be summery, she had started feeling the heat and begins complaining about how everyone else was getting to run around in summer clothes whilst they were stuck in the debriefing room in their regular clothes since they were logged with their regular work dev kits. Winr tries to calm her down by saying how she looks cool in her regular clothes, though it doesn't work. Everyone else simply watches as the two argue, deciding not to get involved. When Yao arrives, she tells them that Cool Boy had been trapped inside Cross Connectia and that she was giving them a special mission to save him. She also tells them that they had since learned that Zenith's data that had gotten corrupted during the BlackImperialdramon incident had also ended up in Cross Connectia. Ryutaro says that he had heard about Zenith's corrupted data, but had also heard Zenith himself was fine — with Yao saying that Zenith had actually gone missing shortly after the incident. Map data damaged by the Imperialdramon had also ended up in the game as well. Suzune brings up how the "Alice glitch" that traps players within virtual worlds had been dealt with more than a decade before, and asks Yao where Cool Boy's real body was — with Suzune pressing her more and more as Yao doesn't answer. Yuuki cuts Suzune off and says that the group will just go to Cross Connectia to save Cool Boy and Zenith's data, with Winr's shocked reaction that Yuuki knows the term "killing two birds with one stone" turning the mood from serious to silly. With the mood change calming Yao down, she apologizes to Suzune and says she will tell her soon, though Suzune says she should be the one apologizing and that she was just worried about the possibility that the Alice glitch had returned. The group accept the mission, with Yao giving them all access to Cross Connectia. The group quickly log into the game, though Yuuki winds up cancelling her transfer in the middle of it causing the other four to arrive without her. She says that Yao telling them Cross Connectia was an unfinished game was bugging her and asks if she can check something out first — with Yao agreeing. This winds up being beneficial, as Yao remembers she forgot to tell everyone that she had sent Mirai Kinosaki ahead of them, and that they all needed to meet up with her within the game. Yuuki then leaves. THE SKY FALL (Part 2)

She goes to the Sanctuary with Impmon, with an arriving Yuuki hugging an "annoyed" Huckmon. Yuuki asks if it was really okay for the debug team to use Sanctuary as a base of operations, with Huckmon once again saying it was fine as the local Digimon had wanted a way to thank Yuuki for all her help. In addition, it figured that a knight would be dishonoring itself by not helping those in need.

Impmon and Yuuki ask about the world Huckmon came from, with Huckmon saying it came from Cross Connectia. Yuuki tells Huckmon that she had been told Cool Boy had been trapped inside that world and, having learned there was a game in development before Liberator, had thought of Huckmon's world — and had correctly deduced they were one in the same. Yuuki says she learned the Liberator staff had planned to remove the poison from LACUNA and then move all the Digimon from Cross Connectia to it so that they would have a new place to live. This relives Huckmon, whilst Yuuki figures they hadn't told anyone in Cross Connectia as it would get their hopes up since it could've ended up being an impossible plan. Having learned all this, Huckmon agrees to finally put its suspicions over Cool Boy to rest. It then asks who the unknown machine Digimon that attacked them was, wondering why it had attacked them if it hadn't been sent by Cool Boy. They wonder if it had been sent by Unchained, though can't come up with a reason as to why Unchained would send a Digimon to attack Cross Connectia. Impmon brings up how it mentioned Huckmon had protecting a beast Digimon, and hypothesizes that it may have shown up with the goal of attacking the beast Digimon. Huckmon says that would make sense, since the beast Digimon was pretty much the God of Cross Connectia — this surprising Yuuki and Impmon. Huckmon then tells them the beast Digimon was known as Dalphomon.

Huckmon explains that Dalphomon was a very powerful but gentle Digimon and it took it upon itself to protect it as it realized Dalphomon was the one responsible for maintaining Cross Connectia's world. Since Unchained had taken over LACUNA, Huckmon was now worried that Unchained may decide to attack Dalphomon again. Yuuki yells out about how they need to help defend Dalphomon, though Impmon points out they don't have time to do that as they need to prioritize saving Cool Boy and Zenith's data. Despite that, Yuuki says she still wants to help — Impmon knowing she would say that and Huckmon happy at seeing just how much she wanted to help Dalphomon. Huckmon warns the duo that it hadn't protected Dalphomon alone, and that its allies may hate humans even more than it originally had. It tells them that time passes differently in Cross Connectia and that even though her friends had travelled there only 30 minutes ago, that was equal to 12 hours there. Yao arrives, and having overheard the end of the conversation, says she had actually shown up as she had planned to tell Yuuki about the time difference as she had told everyone else but had forgotten to tell Yuuki. Yuuki worries about her friends, though Yao says they're super tough so she shouldn't worry too much so they'll probably be fine. Yuuki tells Yao about her history with Huckmon and the Sanctuary, then says although something feels ominous about these events they'll probably be fine. Impmon reminds her that failure means the end of LACUNA, which Yuuki assures it she knows. They argue over the fact she doesn't seem serious enough, with Impmon secretly agreeing with her that going to a new World and meeting new Digimon would be fun. Yuuki and Impmon leave, and log into Cross Connectia. DEBUG.9 Departure

Other appearances

Yuuki is part of the cast for Bandai's Digimon Card Battle Youtube series. She made her first appearance on March 27, 2025 as a short preview where she announced she would be joining the cast in April. The other cast members are real humans, with Yuuki appearing as a 3d model. Her voice actor is unknown, though is the same for both Japanese and English. Bandai release two versions of her content, one for each language. In kayfabe, she's a "real person" rather than a 3d model/vtuber.
