The DigiDestined are undecided of their stance as both Digital World and real world reject their existence.
Synopsis
Dark Gennai tortures Meiko to provoke Meicoomon into digivolving into Meicrackmon, resulting in multiple portals between Earth and the Digital World appearing. Meicrackmon becomes feral and Tai has to save Meiko from her attack before Meicrackmon disappears through a portal. As Meicrackmon's power causes disturbances across both worlds, an increasingly unstable Himikawa wanders the digital world, fixating on reuniting with her partner. Digimon begin leaking into Earth, causing mass confusion along with massive interference with digital technology while Nishijima tries to find the DigiDestined. Things are calm despite the Digimon's arrival, but Nishijima learns from Meiko's father and Digimon researcher, Professor Mochizuki, that Meiko and Meicoomon have a unique connection, and Meicoomon has had violent episodes in the past when she was separated from Meiko for too long. Hackmon then appears to them and reveals the reason for Meicoomon's instability and destructive powers are because she was reconfigured from Apocalymon; the only thing keeping her stabilized and contained was her partnership with Meiko. If Meicoomon's true power is allowed to be fully released, then not even her partnership could contain it again. Hackmon warns Nishijima that they've passed the point of no return and Homestasis plans to destroy Meicoomon alongside Earth's armed forces to stop her rampage since the Reboot failed.
Back in the Digital World, the Digidestined face Digimon turned hostile and a destabilizing environment in their search for Meicrackmon. Meiko fears that her bond with Miecoomon is gone, but the others encourage her to keep faith. Kari thinks the Digital World itself it trying to get rid of them and Izzy theorizes the rebooted Digital World now see them as foreign entities to be expunge. Dark Gennai opens a portal that sends the Digidestined back to Japan where they are arrested for associating with Digimon. Nishijima gets them released and warns them that they can't go home for the time being because the press found out about them and are staking out their homes. He then brings them up to date on what's been happening, including a massive fire Meicrackmon set by destroying a geothermal power plant that has caused public sentiment to turn against Digimon. The Digidestined hide out at their school and Nishijima tells them about Homestasis' plan to destroy Meicoomon. After going over everything that's been happening, everyone realizes that the Digimon are being pulled to Earth in a plan by King Drasil to use Meicoomon's powers to make them rampage all at once and destroy the Earth.
That night, Tai and Augomon separately consol Meico, who has been wracked with guilt and confusion after learning the truth about Meicoomon. The next day, Meicrackmon appears and Meiko tries to reason with her. When that fails, the Digidestined digivolve their Digimon to their ultimate forms and battle her. Meiko senses Meicrackmon is suffering, and her power continues rising in response. Homeostasis makes its move and sends Jesmon to destroy Meicrackmon, only to push Meicrackmon over the edge and make her digivolve into Raguelmon, who's power is so great her mere presence destroys nearby matter. During their battle, Raguel instinctively protects Meiko from falling debris and the Digidestined realize she still remembers their bond. The Digidestined except for Kari digivolve their partners to Mega level and plan to impede Jesmon force Raguelmon to the ocean, but Homestasis possesses Kari and warns them against their course, believing sacrifices to be necessary. Kari resists Homestasis, but Jesmon pulls Raguelmon through a portal back to the Digital World and Matt and Tai DNA Digivolve their partners into Omnimon to follow them. They battle Jesmon, standing by their own choices instead what Homeostasis thinks is right. However, King Drasil sends Alphamon to reclaim Raguelmon, defeating all the Digidestined's partners except Omnimon.
Meanwhile, Himikawa completely losses herself to her obsession, being pulled into the Dark Ocean and swallowed by the waves; Nishijima senses her loss.
As the four-way battle continues, Meiko asks the Digidestined to kill Raguelmon, as it's the only thing that can end her partner's suffering and the madness. The Digidestined are divided by her choice, but when Jesmon fires a massive attack in an attempt to destroy Raguelmon, it creates a fissure which Tai and Nishijima fall into. Kari's grief over her brother's apparent death causes her to inadvertently Dark Digivolve her partner into Ophanimon Falldown Mode, which then DNA Digivolves with Raguelmon into Ordinemon. Ordinemon then disappears into a portal and goes to Earth, triggering the Digimon sent there to start rampaging and setting King Drasil's plan into motion. Matt rallies everyone to keep fighting so Tai's loss wasn't in vain.
