Locomon is a Machine Digimon. It has the appearance of a steam locomotive, and its purpose in life is to keep running. It is a being which transports the data within the Network across the Digital World. Within the Digital World, where a large quantity of information comes and goes, the meaning of life for Locomon and other Vehicle-species Digimon is in how quickly they can convey that information. However, there are times when old models of Locomon have run completely wild as a result of seeking to go too quickly. Also, although its range of movement is confined because it can only run on rails, there are occasions when it has generated spatial distortions by continuously running in circles.[4]
Attacks
- Steam Bomb: Uses bombs of the steam blowing from its smokestack.
- Wheel Grinder: Spins and then throws its spiked wheels.
Design
Locomon is a mechanical Digimon that bears a strong resemblance to a streamlined steam locomotive. Its body is clad in blue metal and its face is hidden by a metal mask-like piece, which has openings showing its yellow eyes, with a lamp on its forehead and orange buffers on a bumper with a coupler between them. It has arms on the sides of its front end, with pauldron-like sections of perforated metal shielding its shoulders and large hands that each have three claw-shaped fingers. It also has a cab at its rear, enabling another Digimon to operate it if necessary. Its wheels are arranged in a 2-8-4 "Berkshire" configuration. It bears a passing resemblance to a JNR D51 class steam engine.
