The Vital Hero Digital Monster, released in Japan as the Vital Bracelet Digital Monster (バイタルブレス デジタルモンスター Baitaru Buresu Dejitaru Monsutā?) and Vital Bracelet Digivice -V-, is a Wearable Terminal Type Digital Monster Virtual Pet.[citation needed] It is succeeded by the Vital Bracelet BE.
The Vital Hero works like a fitness tracker by using sensors to detect the wearer's physical activity. It translates miles travelled into "Vital Values" that foster growth and lifespan for the chosen Digimon. Vital Values also deplete if the device cannot detect the wearer's pulse during the Digimon's assigned waking period, with the Digimon dying if a full 24-hour period elapses with no detected pulse. New rosters of Digimon are available via inserted DIM Cards.
Versions[]
The base versions of this virtual pet were released in Japan as the Vital Bracelet Digital Monster.
The Vital Bracelet Digivice -V- is a Digimon Ghost Game-themed device with several QoL improvements, including the ability to manually put the Digimon to bed and simultaneously allow Digivolution progress to continue.
The virtual pet was released in English markets as the Vital Hero Digital Monster. It retains the aesthetic of the base model, with a lengthened wristband and the QoL improvements of the Digivice -V-.
DIM Cards[]
Digimon Identified Memory Cards, abbreviated as DIM[please confirm] Cards (Dimカード Dim Kādo?), are memory cards designed to unlock new themed rosters of trainable Digimon when inserted into the Vital series of devices. They are succeeded by the BEMemories, although they are still compatible with the Vital Bracelet BE.
When inserted into a Vital device, the virtual pet spawns a Digi-Egg matching the DIM roster. The device also imposes a device-lock to limit the DIM's use with other virtual pets; a DIM may only pair to one Vital Bracelet Digital Monster and three Vital Bracelet Digivice -V-.
A total of thirty seven DIM were released for the Vital devices. Two additional DIM, "Judgment of Heaven" and "Karma of the Gods", were announced[citation needed] but left unreleased. The Digimon scheduled to show up within them were later included on BEMemories.
Functions[]
Mood[]
Digimon have various Moods which can affect their gains and battle performance. The most common modifier for Mood is the Digimon's personality compared to the user's activity level. If the user is exerting themselves too much or too little compared to the personality of the Digimon, it will become Upset, whereas keeping to its preferences will make it Happy.
Digivolution[]
Digimon will digivolve after a certain amount of time has passed, with their new form changing based on the user's activity level. Some Digimon are locked behind accumulating a certain number of Vital Values, Trophies, Battles, or achieving a certain Win Ratio. Depending on the digivolution achieved, the Digimon may change in attribute or personality, which can affect its active times, battle stats, and preferred exercise frequency.
Each DIM Card also includes a special fourth Mega Digimon, which unlocks by clearing all stages of Adventure Mode.
Missions[]
The bracelet assigns Missions to users to accrue Vital Values and Trophies, which are needed to access certain digivolution paths. Missions are split between Normal, Hard, Special, and Adventure. Missions only become available once a Digimon has reached the Rookie stage.
- Normal: Tasks involve accruing a certain number of Vital Values, Miles, Battles, or Wins. Awards 1 Trophy on completion. Users can perform 1 Normal Mission per day.
- Hard: Tasks involve a specific exercise for a certain amount of time, such as running or squatting. Awards 1-2 Trophies on completion. Up to 4 Hard Missions can be done per day.
- Special: By linking the device to the Vital Bracelet Lab app and sending Digimon to it, Digimon can receive Special Missions which will activate once that Digimon is returned to the bracelet. Special Missions award 3 Trophies on completion. With the termination of the Vital Bracelet Lab, Special Missions are no longer accessible.
- Adventure: Sets the bracelet to Adventure Mode after an area is selected. When a set number of Miles has been reached, a battle will occur with an enemy Digimon. Winning the battle grants Vital Values and unlocks the next area. Each DIM Card has 15 areas in its Adventure Mode, and when all areas are completed, a new Digivolution path is unlocked for that DIM.
Battles[]
Battles in the Vital Hero are entirely automated. The two combatant Digimon will attack each other for five turns, with hit chance and damage being determined by stats, attribute matchups, mood, and randomness. A Digimon wins by reducing their opponent's HP to zero, or by having a higher HP percentage than their opponent by the end of the fifth turn.
Victory in a battle will earn Vital Values, while defeat will penalize them. Gains and losses will be adjusted based on level disparities; a Mega defeating a Rookie won't gain much VV from victory, whereas a Rookie defeating a Mega will get a massive amount of VV.
- PvE[please confirm]: Users can enter battles by reaching the end of an area in Adventure Mode, or by having the bracelet active while tapping it against a compatible NFC host. NFC encounters are randomized, while Adventure Mode battles are preset based on the chosen area.
- PvP[please confirm]: Using the VS Memory DIM Card bundled with most retail units, users can temporarily transfer a Digimon from their bracelet and send it to another player's bracelet to battle.
If a Digimon loses a battle while in the Upset state, it will be become Injured. Digimon that suffer four injuries in a row will die. To treat the injury, the user must remove the bracelet and let it sit. This will put the Digimon into Treatment Mode, where the injury/-ies will be healed over time. The more injuries the Digimon has accrued prior to treatment, the longer the healing process will take.
Storage[]
The bracelet by itself is able to store an active and backup Digimon. Digimon in backup have their internal clocks stopped so that Vital Values do not accrue or deplete. However, if the Backup Digimon is at the same Level as the active Digimon, but with a different Attribute, they can be used as a catalyst for DNA Digivolution.
Additional storage for Digimon is available by linking the device to the companion apps Digimon Vital Bracelet Lab and later, Vital Bracelet Arena.
Sleep[]
In the Vital Bracelet Digital Monster, Digimon automatically go to sleep, while on the Digivice -V- and Vital Hero, they must be manually put to bed. Sleep stops the Digimon's clock so that Vital Values do not accrue or deplete. In the Digital Monster, this will also pause Digivolution progress, while on the Digivice -V- it does not.
